Presentation title: Acoustic scattering characteristics of divers and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles
Abstract: The underwater detection and tracking of small targets, such as divers and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), are closely related to marine environmental protection and the development of marine resources. This talk introduces the theoretical and experimental research conducted by the Underwater Acoustic Engineering Lab of Shanghai Jiao Tong University on the acoustic scattering characteristics of divers and UUVs. Firstly, a three-dimensional fine geometric model of a diver and a UUV is established, and a plate element method for calculating the target echo characteristics of different material combinations, considering occlusion, is proposed to forecast the target's broadband and omnidirectional echo characteristics. Secondly, on-lake tests for measuring the target strength of divers and UUVs are carried out, and the static and dynamic acoustic scattering characteristics of the targets are obtained to validate the accuracy of the theoretical model. |
